Lynne Meade Carved Porcelain

“Most of my pieces are either one of a kind or from a limited series,” says Northern California artist, Lynne Meade.  As a young child Lynne began working with modeling clay and evolved to using porcelain clay and a clear glaze applied to each of her pieces.  She designs, draws, and carves all pieces freehand when the pots are bone dry.  Lynne explains, “This technique allows more control and sharper cleaner lines.”  Her inspiration evolves from a variety of sea forms and plant life-organic forms that are abstracted and interwoven to create a complex and undulating surface.  The simplicity of the form and the purity of porcelain offset the complexity of the lines.
